The name of the island.
Its unusual name was entirely accidental: the Dutch sailors had entered its land on the first day of Easter Week 1722. Other names of this island – Rapa Nui (Rapa Nui) – Large paddle, as well as Te-Pito-O-Te-Hen – Navel of the Universe, Mata-Ki-Te-Rank-Eye, staring at the sky.
